Diane Schleyhahn

I hope to continue to have a teachable spirit and my art would be a reflection of a new discovery with each work. As Degas once said, “art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” My goal is to take the viewer on a journey using interesting brush strokes, bright colors, uncommon compositions, and strong reflections of light. For me it’s an adventure of stretching to discover new skills and always keeping an open mind to the forever evolving world of paint techniques, materials, and ideas. I continue to work in both a representational style and at the same time enjoy the freedom and spontaneity in abstract expressionism. Ultimately, my goal is to use any shred of talent I possess as a gift from God and a reflection of His grace.
